Joint Commission Revises Definition for Designated Equivalent Source

The Joint Commission has announced that, effective July 1, 2024, they are revising the glossary definition of “designated equivalent source” in the following Comprehensive Accreditation Manuals:

  • Ambulatory Care Organizations
  • Behavioral Health Care and Human Services Organizations
  • Critical Access Hospitals
  • Hospitals
  • Office-based Surgery

According to TJC, the revision is intended to clarify the intent of the term.
