The Joint Commission has announced that, effective January 1, 2019, several revisions will be implemented for their requirements for the Medication Compounding Certification (MDC) program.

According to TJC, the majority of the revisions are “…editorial in nature, and all were made to maintain consistency with current United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 795 (Pharmaceutical Compounding — Nonsterile Preparations) and 797 (Pharmaceutical Compounding — Sterile Preparations) requirements.”

StayAlert! is currently reviewing the revisions and will publish additional notices, if needed, for substantial changes.
