DNV GL Healthcare Releases Updated Hospital Accreditation Requirements

DNV GL Healthcare has released updated NIAHO® (National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations) Hospital Accreditation Requirements, Interpretive Guidelines and Surveyor Guidance. These updates are effective January 21, 2019.

NIAHO Revision 18-2 includes several CMS-approved requirements including, but not limited to:

  • Clarification of the definition of Hospital to correspond with 42 CFR Section 482.1
  • New medication management requirement related to antimicrobial stewardship
  • Revision to surgical services requirement regarding documentation
  • Revision to medical record requirements to align with H&P requirements.
