Joint Commission Reminds of Updated Requirements for Deemed Status Home Health Agencies

PUBLISHED: Jan 15, 2018
Relevant to: Home Health

The Joint Commission (TJC) is reminding accredited home health organizations that use TJC for deemed status that effective January 13, 2018, TJC will be surveying home health agencies under updated home health requirements.

The updated requirements are in response to revised Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Home Health Conditions of Participation (CoPs) which were issued in a final rule in January 2017. The CMS final rule is also effective January 13, 2018.

According to TJC, “CMS has reviewed a majority of The Joint Commission’s standards changes, which are included in the prepublication standards. Any additional changes based on CMS’ continued review of The Joint Commission’s standards will be published in a future release.”

StayAlert! reviewed the CMS updates in 2017; we are reviewing the TJC prepublication standards and will publish additional information as appropriate.
