Joint Commission Seeks Comment on Proposed Credentialing, Privileging Standards

The Joint Commission (TJC) is seeking comment on proposed revisions to their credentialing and privileging standards. Comment will be accepted through March 21, 2018. The revisions will be applicable to the following accreditation programs:

  • Hospital
  • Critical Access Hospital
  • Ambulatory Health Care
  • Office-based Surgery
  • Nursing Care Center
  • Behavioral Health Care

The intent of the revisions is to update and provide clarification and/or consolidate existing requirements. TJC is also creating two new elements of performance, one of which is specifically for hospitals and critical access hospitals that addresses providing contracting organizations with information on practitioner performance.
