CDC Releases 2017 Immunization Schedules
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released the 2017 Childhood, Preteen, Teen and Adult Immunization Schedules. This schedule includes recommendations in effect as of January 1, 2017.
The Recommended Immunization Schedules for 2017 include links for healthcare professionals and for the general public. Pages include PDFs for printing and syndication codes for displaying schedules within websites, as well as online, mobile-friendly versions and summaries of the 2017 changes. Please note that if you currently display CDC’s schedules on your web page, you do not need to make any changes; the 2017 coding is automatically updated.
The Recommended Immunization Schedule for Children and Adolescents Age 18 Years or younger, 2017 includes a new schedule by medical or other indication as well as the catch-up immunization schedule.
Vaccine providers are reminded that they must provide the appropriate Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) to the recipient/parent/legal representative prior to administration of a vaccine.
- The appropriate VIS must be provided to the recipient/parent/legal representative each time the vaccine is given (not just with the first dose)
- The vaccine administered as well as the VIS provided must be recorded in the patient's permanent medical record
- Vaccine providers should determine if there are specific State requirements that dictate additional information that must be provided prior to immunization administration.
