TJC Revisions to Program Requirements Based on NFPA 2012 Life Safety Code Effective July 1, 2017

The Joint Commission (TJC) is informing accredited organizations that revisions to requirements to the Environment of Care and Life Safety chapters have been made in order to ensure that these requirements are more closely aligned with the adoption of the 2012 editions of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101: Life Safety Code® and NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code. These revisions are effective July 1, 2017.

Revisions have been made to the Environment of Care (EC) and Life Safety (LS) chapters of the Comprehensive Accreditation Manuals for the following programs:

  • Ambulatory Health Care
  • Critical Access Hospital
  • Hospital
  • Home Care
  • Nursing Care Center
