Joint Commission Releases 2017 National Patient Safety Goals
The Joint Commission has released their 2017 National Patient Safety Goals for the following accreditation programs: Behavioral Health Care, Critical Access Hospital, Home Care, Laboratory, Nursing Care Center, Office-Based Surgery and Ambulatory Health Care.
TJC established the National Patient Safety Goal program in 2002 with the intention of helping accredited organizations focus on and address specific patient safety concerns. The Joint Commission’s Patient Safety Advisory Group helps TJC identify emerging patient safety issues and develop interventions that may address the issue. TJC then identifies the highest priority patient safety issues and determines if the issue is appropriate for NPSG development.
