Joint Commission Seeks Comments on Proposed Revisions to National Patient Safety Goals on Health Care-Associated Infections

The Joint Commission (TJC) is conducting a field review to collect comments on proposed revisions to the National Patient Safety Goals addressing Health Care-Associated infections. The proposed new and revised requirements are based on evidence-based practices. Comments will be accepted through November 15, 2016.

For Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals, TJC is seeking input on revisions to NPSGs that address central line-associated blood stream infection (CLABSI) and surgical site infection (SSI). The proposed new and revised requirements are based on evidence-based practices.

For Ambulatory Care and Office-Based Surgery accreditation programs TJC is seeking input on revisions that address surgical site infection (SSI).

For Nursing Care Center accreditation programs TJC is seeking input on revisions that address multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) and central line-associated blood stream infection (CLABSI).
