Joint Commission Proposes Revisions to National Patient Safety Goal Requirements Related to Suicide

The Joint Commission is seeking input on proposed revisions to the National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) related to suicide for their Hospital and Behavioral Health Care accreditation programs. TJC is also proposing the revised NPSG be applicable to the Critical Access Hospital accreditation program.

The proposed revisions are intended to assist health care organizations to better identify and treat individuals with behavioral health diagnoses who are potentially at risk for suicide. TJC will be accepting comments on their proposed revisions through May 1, 2017.
