| JCAHO announced in the November 2004 electronic newsletter, JCAHOnline, that hospitals that achieve and maintain a conversion rate of organ donation at 75% or higher will receive recognition in the JCAHO's organization specific quality reports. JCAHO noted that the average conversion rate for organ donation is currently 50%. The JCAHO as well as the Department of Health and Human Services Administration and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement are striving for a conversion rate of 75%.
