| The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently clarified HIPAA standard applicability to credit card transactions. Apparently questions have arisen about when an individual (i.e., a subscriber or a patient) uses his or her credit or debit card to pay for premiums, deductibles and/or co-payments whether or not that that "transaction" is considered a HIPAA standard, and therefore must it be in a HIPAA compliant format with HIPAA compliant content.
