| The Joint Commission’s (JC) National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) 2E requires hospitals to increase their focus on “hand-off” communications. Specifically, NPSG 2E states that hospitals must implement a standardized approach to “hand-off” communications, including an opportunity to ask and respond to questions.
