| The JCAHO in their January, 2005 edition of JCAHOnline has clarified the requirement of "free flow" protection on infusion pumps under the National Safety Goal that calls for improving the safety of using infusion pumps. Requirement "A" states that organizations must ensure free flow protection on all general use and PCA intravenous infusion pumps used in/by the organization.
