| The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) has included the reduction of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) infection as a part of its 5 Million Lives Campaign. An expansion of the 100,000 Lives Campaign, a national effort to reduce preventable deaths in US hospitals, the 5 Million Lives campaign seeks to protect patients from five million incidents of medical harm over a period of two years, December 2006 through December 2008.
