| JCAHO has issued revisions to standard PC.17.20, EP 1 and EP 6 effective January 1, 2007. This revised standard states that the hospital’s record keeping permits bi-directional traceability of all tissues.
This standard applies to hospitals that store or issue tissue. This may include storage within the clinical laboratory as well in areas such as surgery, outpatient centers and tissue banks. Tissue specimens addressed by this standard include, but are not limited to:
