| CMS has issued a final rule that allows certain healthcare facilities to have alcohol-based hand-rub dispensers (ABHR) in exit hallways as long as certain safety precautions are met.
The CMS final rule is consistent with JCAHO’s conditions for use of alcohol-based hand rub gel dispensers; however, the new CMS rule does not specifically address ABHR foam dispensers. For additional information on JCAHO’s position on Alcohol-Based Hand Rubs, please see the March 14, 2006 StayAlert Notice.... The full article is available to StayAlert subscribers.
