| The Joint Commission has issued a Sentinel Event Alert, Issue 37 on September 6, 2006 regarding possible adverse events cause by emergency electrical power system failures.
According to the alert, healthcare facilities need to assess the risk of electrical power failures, at varying degrees of severity and impact. Healthcare facilities should have plans in place to reduce the risks associated with electrical power system failures.
