| The StayAlert Administrator has been asked to review JCAHO standards related to Informed Consent. The primary JCAHO standard that regulates Informed Consent is RI.2.40.
RI.2.40 states that informed consent shall be obtained. Informed consent is aimed at creating a mutual understanding between the patient and the provider about the care, treatment and services that shall be provided. The process allows every patient to fully participate in care and treatment decisions.
