| The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is seeking comments on proposed measures for its new Spine Care Recognition Program. Comments will be accepted through June 2, 2006.
According to the NCQA, patients experiencing back pain are subjected to tests such as x-rays, MRIs as well as surgical procedures, despite the fact that there is little medical evidence demonstrating the value of such procedures, and there is often high risk to patients.
