| The StayAlert Administrator recently reported the revision of the definition of a reviewable sentinel event by the Joint Commission in the May 2, 2005 CAMH update.
In the June 2005 edition of Perspectives Joint Commission has approved an additional reviewable sentinel event - unintentional retention of a foreign object in a postoperative or postprocedure patient that is effective immediately.
Any occurrences that meet any of the following criteria are subject to review by JCAHO:
