| Effective immediately JCAHO has revised the definition of a reviewable sentinel event. The changes were made in the CAMH Update, May 2, 2005 and are effectively immediately.
Any occurrences that meet any of the following criteria are subject to review by JCAHO:
Sentinel Event Criteria are as follows:
An event that has resulted in an unexpected death or major permanent loss of function, not related to the natural course of the patient's illness or underlying condition.
