| The FDA announced approval of the drug Symlin (pramlintide acetate) for the treatment of Type I and II diabetes patients. Symlin is an injectable a synthetic analog of human amylin which is a naturally occurring hormone that is produced in the beta cells of the pancreas that are the same cells that make insulin. Symlin is prescribed for patients with Type I diabetes, as an adjunct treatment for those patients who use mealtime insulin therapy and who have failed to achieve desired glucose...
