| The FDA has announced approval of a new medical device for non-invasive treatment of uterine fibroids. The device is called ExAblate 2000 and was developed by InSightec. The ExAblate 2000 uses MRI guided focused ultrasound to heat and destroy the only fibroid tumor cells, leaving healthy tissue unharmed. MRI images locate the tumor, size and shape and monitor the temperature changes inside the patient's body while the focused ultrasound beam heats and destroys the tumor tissue. The treatment is...
