| The FDA has approved the use of a partial artificial heart approved for temporary use in patients waiting for heart transplant. The manufacturer of the device is SynCardia Systems, Inc. The artificial heart is an implantable pulsating bi-ventricular device, designed to replace the right and left ventricles, keeping blood pressure high enough to perfuse vital organs until the patient receives the necessary heart transplant.
