| The Joint Commission has published a correction to standard EC.02.03.05 EP 18 for Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals effective immediately. In the June 2009 Joint Commission Update this standard and element of performance stated that fire and smoke dampers are to be tested at least every four (4) years. Standard EC.02.03.05 EP 18 should state that the organization operates fire and smoke dampers one (1) year after installation for those dampers installed on and after January 1, 2008...
