| The Joint Commission (TJC) has revised its definition of "physician" for the Hospital Accreditation Program, effective July 1, 2009. The revised definition now reflects the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) definition of physician as found in Section 1861(r) of the Social Security Act.
