| The Joint Commission (TJC) has announced that as of January 1, 2009 laboratory accreditation decisions will no longer have an immediate impact on hospital accreditation decisions. This new policy creates comparability in the way laboratories with adverse accreditation decisions (from either TJC, The College of American Pathologists (CAP) or COLA) impact affiliated hospitals or organizations.
