| The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published updated fact sheets on Blast Lung Injury (BLI). BLI is a direct consequence of a blast wave from high explosive detonations upon the body. It is the most common fatal primary blast injury among initial survivors. The blast wave's impact upon the lung results in tearing, hemorrhage, contusion, and edema with resultant ventilation-perfusion mismatch.
