| The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has recently released revised Hospice Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP), effective December 2, 2008. Included in the revised CoPs is the requirement that the patient needs be initially assessed within 48 hours of electing the hospice benefit (§419.54(a)).
