| The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently issued revised Interpretive Guidelines for the Hospital Conditions of Participation (CoP) Section 482.23(b)(1).Section 482.23(b)(1) requires that the hospital provide 24-hour nursing services furnished or supervised by a registered nurse, and have a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse on duty at all times.
